Motorcycle Touring in the UK
There are a wealth of opportiunities for motorcycle touring in the UK. Some excellent roads, ancient history & warm hospitality. Explore at your own pace or enjoy one of our self-guided motorcyle tours.
The South and South West
This is our backyard, and we love riding out into the Surrey and Sussex countryside. Plenty of good places to visit for the day or to stay overnight, all within easy reach of London and our base in Woking. There are some famous biker gatherings and ride-outs here too, most weekends. Visit the Famous Rykas Cafe at Box Hill, or Loomies Moto Cafe in the Meon Valley. Further afield, you can head for the South coast beaches. Beautiful Dorset is less than two hours away via Stonehenge. Or ride through the New Forest and explore rugged Dartmoor in Devon and the Duchy of Cornwall.
Westward and Wales
There are some outstanding rides out through Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. You could take one of our self-guided motorcycle tours to Wales. Motorcycling in Wales offers huge choice. Tour the valleys, the Brecon Beacons, spectacular Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey. More open road than you can wind and sweep through in a long weekend.
The east of England is another country. In Suffolk and Norfolk, the land is flatter, with big skies and peaceful, ancient villages. A beautiful and ancient landscape with mile after crooked mile of country roads. Ride in peace on sweeping trunk roads along quiet coastline.
Try to avoid the M1 and the M6 (except the M6 Toll road, which gets you around Birmingham swiftly). Instead, ride up the A1, the A5 and the A6 among others. These older routes are less travelled. So, they offer some very fine two-lane blacktop linking famous old English cities. Also, they wind through some of the best countryside in the Country. Highlights include the Peak District in Derbyshire and the Lake District in Cumbria. You might decide to explore the North East. If so, the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors have some great rides. Also, the wild Northumberland Coastal will not disappoint either sports or touring riders.
This is one of our favourite touring destinations. You could try one of our Scottish motorcycle tours and explore the Highlands. You will ride across moors and mountains and through glens. The scenery is spectacular, the countryside roads are empty and the hospitality is warm and friendly. So, don’t forget your camera.
The Isle of Man and Northern Ireland
Within easy reach by ferry from the North of England and South West Scotland. IOM is the home of the legendary TT and road racing festivals. It is well worth a visit at any time of the year to sample the 37-mile public road course around Snaefell Mountain. The Island of Ireland has beautiful countryside and a spectacular coastline. There are many fine coastal rides and it is great way to begin a motorcycle tour of Ireland. Pack your Euros and enjoy “Cead Mille Failte”, a hundred thousand welcomes, in Eire, the Republic of Ireland.
