RoadTrip Motorcycle Hire for riding outside the UK
You can rent our motorcycles to rideoutside the UK. There are some limitations imposed by insurers but you can ride in most European countries.
When you book your bike, you must tell us if you going to take it out of the U.K. so that we can make the necessary arrangements for you.
We will provide you with a VE103 ‘Vehicle on hire certificate’. This official document (issued by the UK authorities) confirms that you are the legal rider of our motorcycle and there is no valid substitute for it in the E.U.
In the event that you were to be stopped by local police in Europe without the correct documentation then at the very least you can expect to be delayed. At worst you risk having the machine confiscated. Spot checks are also sometimes carried out at ferry ports in France, Holland and Spain and at the Channel Tunnel.
A fee will be added to the rental charges for the VE103 and European assistance.
RoadTrip is ideally located for travel to Europe. We are an hour’s ride from Portsmouth ferries to France, Spain and the Channel Islands. We are a 90 mile ride eastward through Kent to the Dover ferries and the Channel Tunnel at nearby Folkestone.
All our bikes are covered for roadside assistance in the following countries: Andorra. Austria. Belgium. Denmark. Finland. France. Germany. Gibraltar. Italy. Liechtenstein. Luxembourg. Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City and all off-shore territories of these countries.
Some of our bikes are covered to ride in Eastern Europe as well – please enquire if you wish to travel further afield.
